About Fatwa

A fatwa explains how Islamic law applies to a specific question, and it depends on the facts of the case, place and time. It is an opinion rather than a court judgement, so it is not binding in the way a judge's verdict is. Many countries have official bodies that issue fatwas, and people usually ask a scholar they trust.
