About Fidya

Fidya is generally understood to apply to the elderly or those with a long-term illness who cannot fast and are not expected to recover. It is usually given as one meal, or its value, per missed day. Scholars differ on the exact amount and on certain other cases, such as delayed make-up fasts, so a qualified scholar should be asked for personal situations.
