About Qiyas
Qiyas is the fourth main source in the majority view, used when the Quran, the sunnah and consensus do not address a new case directly. A classic example is applying the prohibition of wine to other intoxicants because they share the same reason. Some scholars limit its use, and the schools differ in how widely they apply it.
