About Tawbah
Scholars list the conditions of sincere repentance as regret, stopping the wrong, and the firm intention not to repeat it, and, where another person was wronged, putting that right. The Quran stresses that God accepts repentance and forgives, and encourages hope. Istighfar, asking forgiveness, is a regular companion of tawbah.
