About QuranCentral

QuranCentral — "The Online Quran Central" — is a free, open platform dedicated to making the Holy Quran, prayer times, tafseer, duas, and Islamic resources easily available to Muslims and seekers worldwide.

Our Mission

To provide an ad-light, distraction-free home for the Quran online — where any Muslim, anywhere, on any device, can read, listen, and learn without barriers.

What We Offer

Open Data, Free Forever

We rely on open, community-maintained APIs and data sources — AlQuran.cloud, AlAdhan, spa5k tafsir, and others. Our deep gratitude to the teams behind these projects who keep Quranic data free and accessible.

QuranCentral is independent and not affiliated with any government or organization. All Quranic text, audio, and translations are sourced from authenticated public collections.

Why QuranCentral Exists

The internet has long been home to many Islamic websites, but most fall into one of two traps. Some are commercial portals cluttered with banners, pop-ups and tracking scripts that turn a moment of remembrance into a marketing experience. Others are static archive pages that ship the Quran as a single PDF and never see another update. QuranCentral was built to offer a third option — a fast, mobile-first, modestly designed platform whose only purpose is to put the Quran, prayer times, tafseer and core Islamic resources within one tap of any Muslim with a browser.

We do not ask you to register. We do not run ads on Quranic text. We do not paywall translations. Every feature on this site — from the karaoke verse player to the inheritance calculator — works for free, on any device, in any country, without an account.

The Principles Behind the Project

Free, forever

The Quran is the speech of Allah. It belongs to the Ummah, not to any company. Charging for access — directly or through forced subscriptions — would be inconsistent with that reality. QuranCentral commits to keeping every Quranic feature free for as long as the project exists. Running costs (hosting, domain, CDN) are modest and covered by the team.

Ad-light by design

Many Islamic websites monetise heavily because their traffic is large and their costs are real. We understand the pressure, but the experience of reading verses sandwiched between casino banners or weight-loss ads is corrosive. QuranCentral keeps the reading and listening surfaces completely ad-free.

Privacy-respecting

We use a single lightweight analytics script to understand which pages help users and which need work. We do not build advertising profiles, we do not sell visitor data, and we do not require cookies for any core feature. Reading verses, checking prayer times and using the calculators all work without storing personal information.

Mobile-first and offline-capable

Most of our visitors come from a phone. The interface is built for thumb navigation, the typography scales gracefully, and the site installs as a Progressive Web App so pages you have visited continue to work when your signal drops — useful in mosques with weak Wi-Fi or during travel.

Where Our Data Comes From

QuranCentral is a thin, carefully designed user interface on top of several open data sources maintained by other Muslim engineers and scholars. We are deeply grateful for their work and credit them clearly:

Whenever we use these sources we keep their attribution intact and link to the upstream project so that visitors who want to support the maintainers can do so directly. If you maintain a relevant open dataset — translations, recitations, hadith collections — we would love to integrate it.

Accessibility and the Ummah

Islam reaches every continent and every income bracket. A worker in Karachi opening the site on a budget Android phone should have the same experience as a student in Toronto on a laptop. We test on low-end devices and slow networks, we keep our pages under a few hundred kilobytes wherever possible, and we expose every feature to both English and Arabic with right-to-left support. Our zakat calculator and inheritance calculator each work without depending on external scripts, so they remain available even on restrictive corporate networks.

Who Builds QuranCentral

QuranCentral is built and maintained by a small team of Muslim engineers and reviewers in our spare time, with input from scholars on specific fiqh-sensitive pages such as the inheritance and fidya calculators. We do not represent any masjid, school of thought, or political body. When pages touch areas of disagreement between mainstream Sunni schools, we try to describe each position fairly rather than advocate for one.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is QuranCentral affiliated with a government or charity?

No. QuranCentral is an independent volunteer project, not affiliated with any government, masjid network, or registered charity. We accept no funding from political bodies.

How do you make money?

We do not. There are no ads on Quranic content, no paid tiers, no affiliate links on calculators, and no sponsored placements. Hosting and domain costs are covered by the team.

Can I use QuranCentral content on my own site?

The underlying Quranic text and audio belong to the open community projects we credit — please see their licences. Our own writing (page intros, calculator explanations) may be reused for non-commercial educational purposes with a link back to QuranCentral.

Can I contribute translations or report errors?

Yes, please. See our contact page and email us the verse reference and the suggested correction. We review every message and roll fixes into the live site quickly.

Do you have a mobile app?

QuranCentral installs as a Progressive Web App from any modern browser — tap "Add to Home Screen" and it behaves like a native app, including offline access to pages you have already visited.
